In 2022, our client started building a massive semiconductor site in the Midwest region of the United States. The site covers 1,000 acres and is the biggest private sector investment in the state. The goal is to make advanced chips and create long-term jobs.

What we did

We provided cost and change management. Our work included:

  • Estimating and budgeting
  • Reviewing bids
  • Analyzing contractor costs
  • Managing changes and controlling budgets

We helped set the target cost for the project. Then we tracked and managed it closely.

Strong results

Our reviews led to better cost control. We checked every change and confirmed each bid. We helped the client set the project's target cost and stay on track.

That included trend management. This structured process helps us to spot and respond to changes that affect how fabs are designed, built, and operated. It can include cost fluctuations because of inflation, material pricing, supply chain, etc. By staying ahead, we gave the client more control over cost and risk.

We also analyzed bids during the GC award and validated change orders to secure positive buyouts. The result? A 2,000% return on investment.

Overcoming delays to make a lasting impact

The project faced delays. This affected the time and cost. We helped fix the issue by adjusting indirect costs. We also suggested using off-site manufacturing, saving time and money.

The new site will create many jobs. It will help the U.S. stay ahead in chipmaking, supporting the economy and future growth.
