Department for Work and Pensions appoints Currie & Brown to capital works programme

Currie & Brown is providing project management services to the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) on their capital works programme. Currie & Brown is supporting DWP on a number of projects in Luton, Hatfield and Evesham, and more sites will go live this year.

In Luton, a medical assessment centre will be created by consolidating the current facilities and a former office building just outside the town centre. The project comprises the refurbishment of the lower two floors to provide nine assessment/interview rooms and back-of-house office accommodation, including reception spaces, welfare facilities, meeting/interview rooms and secure storage spaces.

The project in Hatfield is the conversion of a former self-contained retail unit into a new Job Centre Plus facility in the town centre. The unit will provide 825m² of newly refurbished accommodation over two floors, providing 44 front-line desks and associated accommodation, including waiting spaces, meeting/training rooms, interview rooms, back-of-house office space and welfare facilities.

Currie & Brown is also working with the DWP to adapt and internally refurbish a former retail unit into a new job centre facility in the historic centre of Evesham. All of the accommodation is at ground floor level. The job centre will provide 14 front-line desks and associated accommodation, including waiting spaces, meeting/training rooms, interview rooms and welfare facilities.

Richard Cairnes, director at Currie & Brown, commented: “We are delighted to be working with the Department for Work and Pensions on their capital works programme, providing project management services on multiple sites across the UK. Currie & Brown has an excellent track record in delivering public sector projects for central government organisations and we look forward to working with the DWP to deliver high-quality, value-for-money facilities that enable DWP to deliver an excellent service to the community.”
