Currie & Brown has strengthened its project management services across the Middle East, redeploying several key members of staff to enhance the service offering across the region.
Martin Smith, based out of Currie & Brown’s Dubai office, will lead project management services in the UAE, having joined Currie & Brown in 2019 to support the initial growth of integrated project management services within the UAE and KSA.
Martin brings over 20 years of professional experience working within the construction industry, with experience that draws on several international projects within multiple sectors. Martin started his career in the UK with a major contractor, working on several prestigious residential, commercial and healthcare projects, before transferring to the UAE in 2005.
In 2008 Martin transitioned into project management, delivering projects across the UAE, including the commercial offices component of the mixed-use Dubai Trade Centre District, now known as One Central. He subsequently led several corporate real estate projects for various energy and financial sector clients across the region. Most notably, Martin was project director on an AED 3 billion shopping mall project for one of the region’s largest developers.
Norman Smith, director in Riyadh, leads Currie & Brown’s project management services. Upon joining Currie & Brown two years ago, Norman initially led Currie & Brown’s PMCM commission on the PIF Tower in Riyadh, one of the company’s most significant and important commissions in KSA.
Norman brings over 30 years of project management and construction management experience to the business including more than 11 years in the Middle East and is ideally placed to work with clients in KSA, focusing on growing our project management offering in the Kingdom.
Jonathan Hall joins Currie & Brown from Arcadis, where he led the Middle East project management team. With over 20 years’ experience, 14 of which are within the Middle East, Jonathan brings extensive project delivery experience with operational and business strategy capability. His experience spans sectors including retail, residential, mixed-use and high-tech.
Jonathan’s focus will be to help grow Currie & Brown’s project management services across the Middle East, support key clients and identify and deliver new strategic opportunities.
Simon Andrews, chief operating officer for the Middle East, commented: “With offices in key locations across Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Oman, Currie & Brown is ideally situated to deliver project management services across the Middle East. We are confident that Norman, Jonathan and Martin will prove to be a leading force in project management across the region. We now have the resources and tools in place to expand.”
